Our Ethics

There are certain everyday items which we consumers purchase in order to make life more enjoyable and a little less arduous. When the time comes to trade in these items our subconscious now questions us more than ever how we go about doing this.

Until fairly recently we didn’t question how this was done. If the local landfill site was filling up, we’d just start another. Armed with more knowledge about the damage we cause to our environment, it is steadily becoming second nature to stop and think about how to recycle these items more ethically.

It is still commonplace on some websites to type in a description of say, a Beatrix Potter cuddly toy and wait for a reply from cyberspace. Some lady from New England USA is a fanatical collector of all things Beatrix Potter – you have a sale. But wait, your environmental subconscious is nagging. Not only is it a hassle to wrap up the furry toy, then make a special trip to the post office – if you can bear to stand in the queue of one of the remaining post offices within a five mile radius – to send it off special delivery.

The ethical subconscious in you wonders what impact sending this package thousands of miles may have on the environment. All we try do is help alleviate the nagging self conscious by helping to promote a more ethical means of disposing of everyday items, Sellthingslocally.com.
